Stitch by stitch,
this sashiko clasp pouch is created by quietly building up the pattern.
The pouches in this series are made using two different types of thread: silk and cotton.
(This pouch is stitched with cotton thread.)
Silk softly catches the light,
while cotton quietly settles into the fabric.
Even with the same pattern,
the feeling changes slightly depending on the material.
Unlike the traditional *asanoha* pattern, where the lines create a sense of tension toward the center, this pattern was stitched with the feeling of boundaries gently loosening — like a breath slowly being released.
Sometimes, everything seems to be going as it should,
and yet there is still a vague sense of uneasiness.
You may not know why,
but when you look at this pouch, perhaps something inside you loosens a little.
I often experience this while stitching sashiko.
I am not consciously trying to put anything in order.
I am simply moving the needle.
And before I know it, things have quietly settled into place.
The rhythm of the stitches.
The spaces between them.
The repetition.
These small accumulations seem to let the noise inside slowly fall away.
Because each piece is made by hand, there are subtle variations and irregularities.

This piece is delicate handwork made with thread and linen.

• Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or fluorescent light may cause fading.
• Please handle the tassel gently, as pulling it too strongly may affect its shape.
• Overfilling the pouch or applying excessive force to the clasp may cause damage.
• Friction against clothing or other items may cause slight fuzzing.
Due to the nature of the materials, slight loose fibers and variations in texture may occur.
